I thought I would write a note to everyone just to let you know what has transpired with me during this month. On June 3, I went to the ER for intense pain in my sciatic nerve. I had to be hospitalized because they found my kidneys were failing and I had a blood infection (early stages of going septic). A few days later, the sciatic pain induced a small heart attack at around 4 am. After further testing, they found my heart to be completely blocked, and I needed open-heart, bypass surgery. They performed this the next day, and I was released from the hospital a week later. I am now home recovering and hoping for better days to come. I’m so grateful for God’s presence in the form of Marsha, my family, friends, and community surrounding me in prayer despite the fact no one could visit me during the 13 days. I’m especially thankful for the hospital staff at all levels–incredible people to whom I was a complete stranger, and they took care of me with a healing kindness. So my Summer 2020—I had hoped to be marching with Black Lives Matter for police reform, but got detoured to the hospital. I went in for the leg pain, but I stayed for the open-heart surgery! Many deep thanks for all who have prayed for my family and reached out with encouraging emails, calls, and texts. Much love to everyone.
-The Ruined?
"The Ruined" are those countless ones throughout the ages who have encountered the presence of the living God to such an extent that they are "ruined" for the things of this world. They can never return for any extended time to what was formerly known as "normal life." They are
burned with a vision of the beauty of God in the face of Christ-- and
they seek this in everyone and everything they meet.
