A Prayer for Aleppo -David Morrison Christ, the suffering servant, make us aware of your presence: In the child dying in her father’s arms In the mother who has been desolated In the families that are no more Where rubble now lies: where peaceful homes were let seeds of peace sprout let hope spring out against all hope let healing come from unspeakable violence And for those of us watching in powerlessness: In our own vulnerability, let your Spirit whisper into our hearts. In our afflicted hearts, let our tears well into a flood. And in this flood, let justice roll like waters unto the earth. Make us your mercy. Make us your justice. Amen

-The Ruined?
"The Ruined" are those countless ones throughout the ages who have encountered the presence of the living God to such an extent that they are "ruined" for the things of this world. They can never return for any extended time to what was formerly known as "normal life." They are
burned with a vision of the beauty of God in the face of Christ-- and
they seek this in everyone and everything they meet.
